Abstract :

This research focuses on how the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data gathered by IoT devices/objects can be guaranteed, as well as how keeping certain things (data gathered or produced by IoT devices) secret regarding privacy protection. Part of this research will focus on a thorough understanding of IoT infrastructure and its properties including the IoT layers and specifically its network layer as it is the most susceptible layer in terms of security and privacy. The fundamental research will identify the current tools and methods used for security and privacy within the internet with their advantages and disadvantages. The related works that could have helped the research will be reviewed with the discussion of security and privacy issues within IoT infrastructure. Understanding of cryptography and its applications to have a guaranteed secure communication which prevents third parties or the public from accessing or reading private communication/messages in order to protect IoT platform will be discussed. Finally, the development and examination of a new solution/method for security and privacy of IoT that it could guarantee security and privacy protection within IoT system will be implemented and tested with the conclusion on how this research has been compiled with its positive and negative effects.
