Abstract :

Evidently, classical and quantum realms appear to be separate, but there is a way so that a proper ‘bridge’ exists that mathematically connects the two realms. Some important components that help in this task are suitable coherent states. This lecture will feature several classical examples that require either canonical quantization or affine quantization, both of which are briefly reviewed. The tools that will be introduced have already been shown to be promising for both field theory and gravity.

Biography :

Graduated from U. C. Berkeley at 1953, received my PhD from Princeton under John Wheeler in 1959, while on leave from Bell Labs. Served one of those Bell years as a Professor at Bern University, Switzerland, and another one as a Professor at Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, USA. I was part of Bell Labs for 35 years straight. While at Bell Labs, I designed a radar signal that could go further and distinguish better than could be done before (I recently discovered that there has been 2,500 reads of my radar paper). After Bell Labs was forced to close, I spent the following 22 years as a Physics and Mathematics Professor at the University of Florida before retiring.I also spent several summers at Los Alamos, with the theoretical physics group, and I was also Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Mathematical Physics for 6 years.
