Malignant Melanoma - Online Journals

The present study has shown several characteristics of the articles most cited in melanoma research over the past 11 years by means of a literature review. As expected, our study found that most CAMs have been published in high-impact journals, which is consistent with the results of other trials. This confirms the well-known paradigm that CAM is often published in journals at the top of the list of impact factors, which keeps the impact factor high in these articles.

The authors significantly increased their exposure to other researchers and authors by publishing in non-dermatological / melanoma journals. The average impact factor of the non-dermatological / melanoma journals cited was significantly higher than that of the specialized dermatological / melanoma journals. Additionally, articles published outside of dermatology / melanoma journals not only have more citations, but also have more citation rates per year. An explanation for this difference could be the impact factor of the publishing journal and not its specialty.

The source of the data presented in this study was provided using the ISI Web of Knowledge database. We have identified journals for publications with the word "melanoma" in the title. A search was then performed on the Web of Science for each journal under "Publication Name", and the results were sorted by the "Times Cited" category. This provided a list of all articles in a given journal sorted by number of citations. The articles were classified according to the number of times they were cited by an ISI-indexed journal between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2010. The database for this study was compiled on August 7, 2013 and the figures presented therefore reflect the number of citations. at this moment.

Publications related to melanoma were selected independently of the language and types of articles such as the journal, the original article and the meta-analysis. Therefore, all epidemiological, preclinical, diagnostic and treatment-related topics were included.
