An Ischemic diabetic foot is any pathology that results directly from peripheral arterial disease or sensory neuropathy affecting the feet in diabetes mellitus it is a chronic complication of diabetes mellitus. Approximately half of patients with a diabetic foot ulcer have co-existing PAD. Some of the signs of diabetic foot are changes in skin color, skin temperature, swelling in the foot or ankle, pain in the legs, dry cracks in the skin especially around the heel, ingrown toenails infected with fungus. Over time, diabetes may cause nerve damage also called diabetic neuropathy where it can cause numbness or tingling in your fingers, toes, hands, and feet. Another symptom is a burning, sharp, or diabetic nerve pain.
