A contaminant is a substance which to a negative effect on our health or on the health of animals or plants. The definition of contamination is something that contaminates or is something that has been made impure or spoiled. A wide range of chemicals can contaminate water, land or air impacting the environment and our health. There are three main categories of food contaminants: physical, chemical, and biological. Causes of food contamination are biological hazards, chemical hazards, physical hazards.
