Chemotherapy Articles
Genomic studies are promoting an efficient application of anticancer drugs and lots of anticancer reagents in carcinoma chemotherapy treatment have progressively become ineffective for patients with a positive mutation of the tumour marker p53. Chemotherapy is that the application of chemicals or drugs to kill cancer cells, and its effects are systemic. So far, there are several different classes of anticancer drugs based on their mechanisms of action, and they include the following:
a) alkylating agents which damage DNA;
b) anti-metabolites that replace the normal building blocks of RNA and DNA;
c) antibiotics that interfere with the enzymes involved in DNA replication;
d) topoisomerase inhibitors that inhibit either topoisomerase I or II, which are the enzymes involved in unwinding DNA during replication and transcription;
e) mitotic inhibitors that inhibit mitosis and cell division; and
f) corticosteroids, which are used for the treatment of cancer and to alleviate the side effects from other drugs.
Chemotherapy works by stopping or slowing down the growth of cancerous cells, while doing this to some extent it may also harm healthy cells. depending upon the sort of cancer the chemotherapy drugs are decided. chemotherapy are often given in some ways injections, intra peritoneal, oral, tropical, intra venous. there are more than 100 chemotherepic drugs available. the drugs can be given alone or in combinations. Many chemotherapy drugs have adverse effects which will be severe. However, if a doctor recommends a person has chemotherapy, this usually means that the benefits are likely to outweigh any adverse effects.
