Body Mass Index

The body mass index (BMI), defined as the weight divided by the square of the height, was developed to allow the evaluation of the weight independently of the height. Other measures have also been considered to better understand the risk of all-cause mortality as well as morbidities linked to obesity, which include conditions such as hypertension, atherosclerotic vascular diseases, diabetes, certain cancers and recently defined locomotor syndrome. Thus, the BMI has just been increased by other simple biometric data, mainly the waist measurement (WC) and various WC derivatives such as the waist-hip ratio (WHR) and the waist-size ratio (WHtR ). The main open access journals are scholarly peer-reviewed journals from Journals of Obesity & Weight Loss Therapy. The best open access journals are available for free on the public Internet, allowing any end user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full text of articles. These provide a high-quality, meticulously revised and timely publication to meet the pressing needs of the scientific community. These journals are indexed with all their noted citations. The main open access journals are indexed in MEDLINE, PUBMED, SCOPUS, COPERNICUS, CAS, EBSCO and ISI.
