The procedure which is used to manage contaminated media, together with water, soil and subsurface material, by changing environmental conditions to stimulate growth of microorganisms and degrade the target pollutants is called Bioremediation. Biological treatment is a interchangeable approach used to treat wastes including wastewater, industrial waste and solid waste. It follows oxidation-reduction reactions where an electron acceptor is added to stimulate oxidation of a minimised pollutant or an electron donor is added to minimise oxidized pollutants. In both these approaches, additional nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and pH buffers may be added to upgrade conditions for the microorganisms. Open access journals refers to free, unrestricted online access to research outputs such as journal articles and books. Open access journal can be accessed by all, with no fees.
