Dr. Azimi is an international recognized cardiologist with diverse research interests. He is quadruple board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, nuclear cardiology and interventional cardiology. He treats the whole patient and not solely an organ system. Treating patients as family and focusing on prevention has allowed for superior care and results in his practice. After studying chemistry at Columbia University in New York City, he finished Dartmouth Medical School, followed by the prestigious University of Colorado Health Sciences Center residency program in internal medicine. He then trained in cardiology at Yale University where he stayed to do nuclear cardiology and cardiac and peripheral interventions training. He is voted by his peers as one of San Diego Magazines's Top Doctors in Cardiology 2013 and 2014 and 2016, 2017. Castle Connolly has chosen him as Top Doctor in Interventional Cardiology in 2013, 2014, and 2015, 2016 and 2017. Additionally, the Consumer's Research Council of America has added him to the list of America's Top Cardiologists in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 and he has been Doctor's of Excellence in Leaders of Healthcare publication 2014, 2015 and 2016 edition. He has been academically involved teaching students from USC and Midwestern School of Medicine. He serves on editorial board of Cardiology and Vascular Journal as well as Vascular Disease Management. He has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals. He has lectured locally and nationally on diverse topics as well as had media appearances discussing important health topics.
