Detection of Camouflaged People

The use of thermal imaging is a benefit for the military people. Due to their advantages, it has a large number of applications, including the detection of camouflaged people. For better results, the thermal information can be merged with the color information which allows a greater de-tail, resulting in a higher degree of security. The present work implemented as pixel level image fusion methods: Principal Components Analysis, Laplacian Pyramid, and Discrete Wavelet Transform. A qualitative analysis concluded that the method which performs better is the one that uses Wavelets, followed by the Laplacian Pyramid and finally the PCA. A quantitative analysis was made using the metrics: Standard Deviation, Entropy, Spatial Frequency, Mutual Information, Fusion Quality Index and Structural Similarity Index. The values obtained support the conclusions extracted from the qualitative analysis.

A Rapid Prototyping Matlab Based Design Tool of Wireless Sensor Nodes for Healthcare Applications

Remote patient monitoring enables medical facilities and personnel to monitor patients outside of conventional clinical settings. This technology is greatly affected by the available energy sources. The limited energy supply is the bottleneck for measurement, data transmission, network connection and lifetime. Thus, efficient power consumption estimation in the early stage of the design would give the user an insight on its feasibility within medical constraints. In this paper, a power-oriented Matlab based design tool is proposed. It will help the user to make an energy aware design. In fact, it will enable him to determine the power consumption of each node based on a set of selected components, the daily routine of the patient and many other factors. It will also allow him to test multiple configurations prior to the physical implementation. This will minimize the time and financial impact of any modification. Furthermore, it will provide guidance to properly adapt the design within the requirements of the application: Choosing components, energy sources, etc. A validation is proposed via a physical implementation in order to compare the results obtained through simulation with practical measurements. Future works aim to take into account memory access operations, include several sensors operating within a network, and adapt the tool to other applications (smart buildings, environmental monitoring, etc.).

Remote Patient Monitoring System Based Coap in Wireless Sensor Networks

Patient monitoring is a process of collecting medical parameters of a patient present at a remote location. To deal with this particular issue in a hospital or medical assistance centre, this paper proposes an alternative vision that includes support through internet based on wireless networks and also compatible with existing infrastructure. Most of the existing paper deals with monitoring through sophisticated hardware in a private network and each have its own overheads of switching to a new system model. This paper deals with the enhanced Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) using multi hop flat topology, which makes the patients being monitored by a central system. It also provides secure communication among the patient nodes by using the public key algorithm. We aim to minimize as well improve implementation method more domestically and secure communication between client and server.

Degrading the Effect of Channel Impairment on STBC-OFDM System in Rayleigh Fading Channel

This paper indicates the space time block code provides transmit diversity in wireless fading channel during the STBC-OFDM system. OFDM is enforced in broadband wireless access systems as the way to beat wireless channel impairments and to enhance and breadth potency. This research is to analyze the performance of non STBC-OFDM system and STBC-OFDM system. The performance has been evaluated for construction modulation (QAM) technique for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems using multiple transmit diversity antenna system in the channel. Conjointly the equation of SNR and BER has been derived for 16-QAM for multiple transmit and receive antenna for STBC-OFDM system by considering the have an effect on of Inter-symbol interference (ISI), phase noise and temporal arrangement noise in Raleigh fading channel.

Design of a Selective Filter-Antenna with Low Insertion Loss and High Suppression Stopband for WiMAX Applications

This paper presents a selective quasi–elliptic bandpass filter-antenna. The presented filter-antenna has a low insertion loss in the passband and relatively high stopband rejection. This structure consists of a quasi–elliptic bandpass filter direct coupled with patch antenna. The bandpass filter consists of four (λ/4) spiral square resonators. It has operates between (3.25–3.6) GHz so it is suitable for WiMAX applications. A CST Microwave Studio Suite software has used to simulate the filter-antenna circuit. The simulated results of the patch antenna and the results of the filter-antenna appears a good matching between the two circuits.
