Biography

Reza Hakkak, Ph.D., received his PhD in Nutrition- University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas in 1986. Dr. Hakkak joint University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1987. Dr. Hakkak is a nutritionist and currently he is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition in the College of Health Professions, Professor of Pediatrics in the College of Medicine, and Professor of Department of Health Policy and Management in the College of Public Health at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dr. Hakkak’ s research are; Influence of diet and nutrition on cancer prevention, obesity and breast cancer promotion, Animal modeling for Cancer Research, nutrition education, interactions of diet and drug metabolism, and alcohol as a risk factor for cancer development. For past several years, his research interests have focused on links between obesity and breast cancer promotion. Dr. Hakkak has published more than 43 research articles and more than 165 abstracts and presentations. Dr. Hakkak has been funded by Susan G. Komen Foundation, USDA and Arkansas Biosciences Institute. He is Editor in chief for two Journals; Obesity and Weight Loss Therapy and Vitamins and Minerals. He is recently appointed as senior editor for Journal Cancer Science and Therapy. Dr. Hakkak also serves on another 10 editorial boards of other journals

Research Interest

Influence of diet and nutrition on cancer prevention, obesity and breast cancer promotion, Animal modeling for Cancer Research, nutrition education, interactions of diet and drug metabolism, and alcohol as a risk factor for cancer development. For past several years, his research interests have focused on links between obesity and breast cancer promotion.
