Metabolic syndrome is a group of conditions that occur together, increasing your risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2diabetes. It comprises a combination of risk factors for coronary heart disease, diabetes, fatty liver, and several cancers. These conditions include increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist, and abnormal triglyceride levels. Metabolic syndrome is closely linked to obesity or over weight and inactivity and also linked to a condition called insulin resistance. The open access metabolic syndrome journals is an official, peer-reviewed research journal published based on the Study of Obesity. Obesity is a major risk factor for various metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases.
