Diabetes and obesity are linked. An unhealthy diet usually leads to an increase in the blood sugar, cholesterol and fat content. This usually leads to diabetes. During diabetes, our body may not use insulin properly, which can cause high blood sugar. In order to maintain adequate blood sugar, it is essential to change our eating habits. Being overweight puts extra stress on your body in a variety of ways, including your body's ability to maintain proper blood sugar. In fact, being overweight can make your body resistant to insulin. If you already have diabetes, this means that you will need to take more insulin to get the sugar into your cells. And if you don't have diabetes, the prolonged effects of insulin resistance can eventually cause you to develop the disease.
