Biography

Dr. JianKang Chen received his M.D. from Dali University Medical College in 1987 and became a faculty member of his alma mater, Dali Medical College where he was teaching Pathology to the medical students and also serving as a Clinical Pathologist. He then developed a strong interest in kidney research; this led to his graduation from the Graduate School of Medical Sciences of Beijing Medical University BMU in 1995 BMU was renamed Peking University Health Science Center in 2000. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Dr. Chen was trained in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Vanderbilt University Mentor: Prof. Raymond C. Harris and the Nephrology Division at University of Ottawa Mentor: Prof. Kevin D. Burn.

Research Interest

Molecular mechanisms of compensatory renal hypertrophy, diabetic nephropathy, acute kidney injury(AKI) and renal fibrosis.
