Biography

Fabienne Poncin-Epaillard, Directeur de recherche, is a senior research scientist belonging to the French national research institute, CNRS and presently working in the “polymères colloides et interfaces team” at the “institute des molecules et matériaux du Mans”. Her research work is devoted to the polymeric surface engineering. About 100 papers in international revues and 4 patents have been issued in this field. The developed techniques are dealing with the plasma chemistry. Properties like acido-basic, hydrophilic-hydrophobic, optical, permeability, gas adsorption properties are studied for various applications dealing either with the micro nano-technology (bio-sensors), biomaterials. Both aspects of the comprehension of the synthesis route and the properties study are taken into account and allow the team to propose new industrial developments. She is also the supervisor of about 20 PhD students.
