Biography

Dr. Birendra Kumar Sah received his MD/Ph.D. degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine in the year 2009, Dr. Sah undertook his postgraduate training at the Ruijin Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine and has been an Attending Surgeon in the Gastrointestinal Division, Department of General surgery since 2010. Dr. Sah is currently designated as a General Surgeon, GI surgery Specialist; Senior Researcher at Ruijin Hospital, and also works for hospital management, in the post of Standing Member of “The Ruijin Hospital Board for Supervision of Medical Quality”. Dr. Sah visited Japan and South Korea for advanced training in Gastric cancer surgery, in 2013 he visited Severance Hospital affiliated to Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea for training in Upper GI Surgery (Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgery). In the same year, Dr. Sah visited National Cancer Center Hospital, Tokyo; Shizuoka Cancer Center, Shizuoka and Hyogo College of Medicine, Hyogo, Japan for Upper GI Surgery and Laparoscopic and Robotic surgery. Dr. Sah's Field of Research is Gastric Cancer Oncology at the Shanghai Institute of General Surgery (State Key Research Center, China). Dr. Sah is a Principal Investigator for two Clinical research; DRAGON III PHASE 1 ClinicalTrials NCT03646591 and DRAGON III PHASE 2 ClinicalTrials NCT03636893. As a First Author/ Corresponding Author, he has published numerous articles (aggregated impact factor of SCI Journals >50) and the highest IF article in Nat Commun. 2020 Nov 30;11(1):6093. doi: 10.1038/s41467-020-19965-6. Neoadjuvant FLOT versus SOX phase II randomized clinical trial for patients with locally advanced gastric cancer. Dr. Sah received many academic awards during his education at the university (Excellent Student Award, SJTU, School of Medicine-Year 2002, 2003; Distinguished Foreign Student Award (Chinese Government -The year 2004, 2007; Excellent Research Award, Rui Jin Hospital-Year 2008; First Class Fellow Award (Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Year 2009); Excellent Graduate of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Award, the Year 2009. Dr. Sah is a standing member of the GI Surgery Committee of the Shanghai Medical Association. Dr. Sah is associated with worldwide professional associations including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), American College of Surgeons (ACS), International Gastric Cancer Association (IGCA), Japanese Gastric Cancer Association (JGCA), Chinese Gastric Cancer Association (CGCA), International Association for Surgeons Gastroenterologists ad Oncologists( IASGO) . He has been an editorial board member of the Chinese Journal of Clinicians. Dr. Sah actively participates as Int’l Reviewer for various peer-reviewed SCI journals, including Annals of Surgical Oncology, ANZ Journal of Surgery, Frontiers in Gastroenterology, Frontiers in Oncology, Frontiers in Surgery, Journal of American College of Surgeons, Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer, Journal of Surgical Research, The Tohoku Journal of Experimental Medicine, World Journal of Surgery. Dr.Sah is multilingual and proficient in Nepali, English, Mandarin, Hindi, and Bhojpuri.
